Capturing Moments and Creating Lasting Memories

So many of us take pictures and post statuses about our day on various social media platforms, but we never seem to keep actual physical copies of our memories. I used to have thousands of photographs on my laptop and phone that just stayed there and never got printed off. I remember back in the mid to late 90's when I was a kid owning a film camera and how you were unable to see the images without printing them off and I also remember the excitement at looking through all the photographs I'd taken once I'd got them back from being developed! However as digital camera's became more mainstream and we were able to see our photographs when we plugged the camera into a computer and then as advancements were made and camera's got screens and phones started having camera's we can now see our images instantly and the "need" for people to print off their photographs is no longer an necessary requirement as people prefer to now look at digital images rather than hold the real things, which I think is such a shame!

One major downside to
keeping your images in only a digital format is when technology fails you, for example when your computer breaks and wipes everything resulting in all your precious memories being lost forever or a camera memory card has corrupted and you didn't have a back up of the images that were on it. How often do you see post's on Facebook saying somebody has lost their phone, but it's not the phone they care about, it's the pictures that were on it!?

It was for all of the above that around six years ago I decided that I wanted to start a photo album, as I had hundreds of photographs on my laptop that I never did anything with. So I started looking online for a good one that I could use. It then got me thinking about photo albums, mainly the ones of my late grandparents that I used to look through as a kid. I was always asking who so and so was and what they were doing. It was then that I decided that I would start a scrapbook, that way it would allow me to journal details about the photographs and spend some time trying to make it look nice. So after spending some hours doing some research I decided upon a Grant Studio Grace Taylor Scrapbook which I purchased from Hobby Craft along with some page protectors and some 12x12 scrapbook paper pads.

This scrapbook allowed me to make my own 12x12 inch pages which allowed me to put in the photographs I wanted, as well as any ticket stubs and flayers to any of the places I'd visited or thing's I done/show's I'd seen ect.. .Most importantly it allowed me space to journal about where the photographs were taken, who was there, what we did, if we enjoyed the day ect... and I absolutely loved it!

In 2014, I decided that it was time for a change as I began to hate how long it was taking to create the 12x12 page spread's and I always felt so far behind with the amount of photographs I wanted to put into my scrapbook album, as it would take me around 4 hours to create a double page spread and as time went on my spreads became less nice to look at and became more rushed ending up with an un decorated pages with a few photo's, some typed journaling which could then be cut out and stuck down and that was it...

At the beginning of 2014 I decided to go with a pocket scrapbooking system called "project life" and I've never looked back, it's so quick, simple and easy to do and there's so many different size and layout options, which I will go into in more depth in a future blog post!

Hello...

Hello word, it's been a while and by a while I mean it's been blooming ages, but I'm still here and I have plans to slowly re-launch and possibly redesign my blogs layout! I haven't done any blog posts in a while as I wasn't full heartily loving all of the content that I was putting out, as It began to feel more like a chore than an enjoyment and I felt as though I was just pushing anything out, so that I could keep to my upload schedule!

If there are any of you out there who regularly read my blog before you might remember me asking you what you'd like to see on my blog?  I wrote that blog as I felt so uninspired by the content I was putting out and I was hoping to get some feedback from you, my readers (if there was ever any regulars readers out there? Please say hello, I really would LOVE to hear from you in the comments!) As to which kind of my blog post's you most enjoyed in hope that it would give me some inspiration as to which direction to take my blog. However, sadly to my disappointment I didn't get any replies... SO this is why I have decided to start a fresh (although the old blogs still may remain - I'm not fully decided as of yet!) and I have decided to not to not keep up with the Jones - by that I mean, I'm not going to do what everyone else is doing and I'm going to take a step away from blogging about fashion trends and doing reviews on my favourite beauty products ect... I really want to find my own little niche with like minded people who enjoy the same things I enjoy and who share the same or similar interests to me!

So... where do I want to go from here in terms of my blog posts? I'm not entirely sure... As I said at the beginning of this post I plan to try again with my blog and not put so much pressure on my self to post so many times a week as I did before!  I plan on uploading biweekly (fortnightly) blog posts to begin with and then see how it goes from there. I really want to take my time with blog posts this time around and make sure that they are well executed! (As looking back some of the photographs in my blog posts aren't of a good quality as they were rushed)

I will now be treating my blog as a "lifestyle" blog as apposed to just "fashion, beauty and home décor"
and I plan to blog about many different topics, so please stay tuned and keep an eye out for my next post!

What do you want to see on this blog?

As I have now been writing my blog since May 2015, a whole 9 months I really want to be more engaging with my audience, so I have a lot of new idea's for blog posts such as a Project life scrapbooking, some baking tutorials, what's in my dressing table ect ect... but I would really love if you could let me know which type of blog post's you enjoy the most! Towards the end of 2015 I decided to change up my blog a little and not just focus on beauty product reviews as much and I have really been enjoying doing a variety of different blog posts but I was just wondering if there is anything in particular you would like to see featured on my blog?

I'd love to hear from you all in the comments section below 😊

What I Got For Christmas 2015

Happy New year everyone, I really hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year and I'm so glad to be back blogging after my short break and have lots of ideas for upcoming blog posts!

DISCLAIMER: Before we get started I am not posting this blog in anyway to brag or gloat about what I received this year from my family Christmas, I just enjoy reading other people's blog's about what I got for Christmas and watching them on YouTube so I wanted to write one about what I got.

So this year for Christmas I feel like I was spoilt, I got so many lovely gifts!

As you can see from the above photograph, I got quite a lot of different things, the most noticeable one being smack bang right in the middle, a stand mixer, to go with my mixer I also got a matching blue stoneware mixing bowl and a cute little apron adorned in cupcake illustrations. I also got some beauty items, such as some Hugo Boss perfume, Lavender hand cream in a cute purple owl pot, some Clinique take the day off cleansing balm, a no7 illuminating stand mirror and a Real Techniques bold metals brush gift set (I've been eyeing the bold metals brushes up ever since they were realised and now I finally have some, I cannot wait to start using them! There so so pretty!) I then also got a lot of Project Life scrapbooking things - but I will be posting a blog sometime soon all about scrap booking, so I will go more into depth about that at a later date so if you're interested keep a look out for that post!

My main and biggest present was this lovely Kenwood Patisserie Mixer, which I absolutely adore, I love the beautiful shade of blue and I think it's very retro looking - LOVE IT and I cannot wait to start using it!

As I said at the beginning I will be posing a blog very soon all about scrap booking and project life, but I just wanted to do a close up and briefly explain what's there. So I got a 12x12 Project life binder with beautiful rose gold polka dots on, I also got the everyday project life core kit, along with two project life value kits. I then also got three different types of project life wallets and some fine liners which will be perfect for journaling!
