Benifit Roller Lash

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Way back in February, I bought the March edition Elle magazine (it was quite some time ago now, I know) to get my hands on  Benefits Roller Lash sample before it's official 1st March 2015 release. (I know, I know I'm very late to the blogging party on this product) The thing that grabbed my attention was they claimed that they applicator has little hooks on the thing that grabs hold of your lashes separating, lifting and curling. I have very short eyelashes, so to me this was very, very appealing,. Could this mascara be the perfect one for me?

I have never tried any benefit products before,  so as my first time user of a benefit product, I am very impressed! The roller last separated, lifted and lengthened my lash's brilliantly. The mascara doesn't claim to lengthen your lashes  so it must just be down to the amount of lift it gives your lashes creating the appearance of having long beautiful lashes and I'm HOOKED (no pun intended)

I'm a HUGE fan the plastic applicator as I tend to find that bristle applicators clump my lashes together and I'm not really a fan of the big clumpy lashes that look like big long spider legs. (hopefully I will find a better way of wording that...)

I generally like to apply only one coat of mascara, however occasionally if the very tips of my eyelashes haven't got much mascara on, I will just re apply the mascara to only the very ends of my eyelashes, as I like my eyelashes to look as natural as possible!

When using the Roller lash my personal preference is to use the inside most curved part of the mascara wand, getting it as close to my eye as possible then wiggle and lift to apply the mascara, and I do the same on the bottom lashes too, except moving my hand down as I wiggle the mascara wand on my bottom lashes.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara in a nutshell? It lengthens, separates, and curls, everything you want from a mascara. It doesn't weigh the lashes down, to be honest I couldn't even tell I was wearing it. Best part of all it doesn't smudge or flake off and it really does open up your eyes with the lifting and curling effect the mascara gives you. So as a Bene-phobe I am more than happy to say that this has converted me, I will definitely be looking to try out more benefit products in the future and if you're looking for a new mascara then Roller Lash is definitely worth all the hype!

Have you tried Benefit's Roller Lash?

Remington Keratin Therapy

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

As you may know if you read my Miracle Hair Treatment I have troublesome damaged hair from all the heat I have applied to it over the years. However due to having naturally curly, frizzy hair I find it almost impossible not to straighten my hair and I have been looking for "safer" ways of straightening my hair without causing too much/any more damage(breakage and split ends).
I have always liked Remington straighteners and over the years I have had many different models. Recently I decided to upgrade from my old Remington Pearl straighteners to the Remington Keratin Therapy Straighteners, as I already own the Remington Therapy Pro Curl curlers which I really like!

So according to the box Remington Keratin Therapy Straighteners, the features include;
  • Up to 57% more protection from damaged (compared to  a standard ceramic Remington Straightener)Keratin Protective Technology - Advanced Keratin Ceramic coating and exclusive Heat Protection Sensor
  • Integrated digital temperature display, 5 heat settings - 160°C - 230°C
  • 15 seconds head up and beeps when ready Longer length 110mm plates
  • Floating plate for even pressure during hair styling (both plates on my old Remington Perl Straighteners floated)
  • Temperature key lock function
  • Automatic safety shut off (after one hour)
  • Plate lock for storage
  • Swivel cord
  • Luxury heat resistant storage pouch
They also come with the added bonus of a five year guarantee!
So how do they perform? Personally the heat sensor takes a little time to get used to - the first time I used them I thought that the sensor was dragging on my hair (although that could just be due to the fact that I'm used to straighteners with two floating plates and these only have one) However I do feel re-assured due to the fact the heat sensor is there as I feel it is protecting me from frying my hair! The Heat Protection Sensor is supposed to detect moisture levels within your hair and optimises or reduce the temperature accordingly. Which is why they  say you hair is up to 57% more protected from breakage and damage, and I must say I have found that since using these straighteners I have found that not as much hair is breaking off/falling out when straightening my hair. (with my old straighteners I would find myself with a lap full of stray hairs that had fallen/broken off and since using the Remington Keratin Therapy straighteners I am finding less hair than before.)
As for the Keratin Ceramic coating I find after straightening my hair, my hair is a lot softer and doesn't feel dried out, leaving me with shiny soft hair when I have finished styling.

How do they compare to the Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Curl Tong? Personally I think they are both AMAZING! They both leave your hair shiny and soft! The straighteners leave your hair sleek and straight and the curling tong leaves you with beautiful bouncy curls! However the Pro Curl Tong doesn't have a Heat Protection Sensor.

Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Curl Tong's features include;
  • A 19mm curling tong barrel
  • Advanced Keratin Ceramic coated barrel
  • Integrated digital temperature display, 5 heat settings - 130°-210°C
  • Heat up in 30 seconds
  • Ready indicator – display stops flashing
  • Auto shut off after 60 minutes
  • Heat resistant pouch

  • Swivel cord – 2.5M

  • and they also come with the added bonus of a five year guarantee.

Remington Keratin Therapy straighteners retail at £89.99 and can be purchased directly from Remington (here). They can also be purchased for the same price from Boots online (here).

Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Curl Tongs retail at £29.99 and can also be purchased directly from Remington (here) or for the same price from Boots online (here)

Do you pay attention to the heat styling tools you buy, or do you used pretty much whatever you can find?

Garnier Ultimate Blends - The Strength Restorer

    Thursday, May 21, 2015

About a month ago now whilst doing my weekly grocery shop, I saw the Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioners on offer for £1.97 each and decided to pick them and give them ago. As I have fallen out of love with my herbal essence shampoo, conditioner combo since they've changed the formula/fragrance of the conditioner and it now smells like the nasty pink penicillin medicine kids used to get when I was younger. Anyway as I was saying I decided to give them ago I have never tried the Ultimate Blends collection before and I opted for The Strength Restorer shampoo and conditioner being as though my hair has a lot of split ends and fly aways.

The shampoo has a very thick consistency, thicker than any shampoo I'm used to anyway. The shampoo contains Royal Jelly and Honey Propolis, giving it has a faint smell of honey. If you look closely the shampoo on your hand you can see like an oil within the shampoo, I'm guessing it's possibly the Honey Propolis. The shampoo lathers up beautifully when rubbing it in to your scalp and hair and when washing it out on the first use I immediately felt the difference in my hair, it made it feel very soft!

The conditioner, is like any other conditioner normal consistency but I have noticed when rubbing it into the ends of my hair it makes small bubbles like it's going to lather. The first time I used it I thought I had used the shampoo, but I hadn't it was definitely the conditioner with its slightly usual difference.

I have used the shampoo and conditioner three times a week for the past month and I really am liking them both!

Have you tried the range? If you have, what do you think?

Metallic Flash Tattoos Are Set To Become A Gorgeous Summer Trend

    Tuesday, May 19, 2015

With summer just around the corner, a new fashion craze is on the horizon, Flash Tattoos. Flash tattoos are jewellery-inspired metallic temporary tattoos, that can make an unexpected statement on any part of the body.

If like me you were a 90's child then I'm sure you remember a similar craze from way back then. As a child I remember the craze of stick on tattoos,  illustrations that came in everything from Disney princesses to hearts and butterflies. Being a thing of the past aimed at children, I never thought temporary ink would come back into fashion in such a big way, but it has and we love them!
Before you conclude that temporary tattoos are silly and just for kids, there definitely not! The metallic jewellery-inspired designs are having a major moment and are definitely the grown up version of their old school counter parts. Celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Beyoncé and Katie Holmes, are jumping on the trend bandwagon!
So, how do they work? The application process is very similar to how you would press on a normal temporary tattoo. The tattoo adheres to the skin after about 30 seconds with pressure from a wet cloth. Allow 10 minutes for it to set completely, and your unique jewellery-inspired tattoo will last for 4-6 days, however they can be removed by scrubbing them off if needs be!

I think these are an amazing way to add new dimensions to your normal outfits. I personally don't have any tattoos because I never like anything long enough to want it on me permanently, and would rather embellish myself in jewellery so I think these are great!

Flash Tat's come in a vast range of metallic colours, styles and jewellery-inspired designs such as; bracelets, arm bangles, necklaces, rings, anklets ect. Flash Tattoos can be brought online from the Flashtat website (here) and they start at around £15 ($22)
Flash Tattoos are the brand responsible for  launching the metallic tattoo craze, however many high street brands have adopted the trend and are selling their own designs. So there really is something for everyone from high-end to high-street.

The shops are as follows; Topshop (here), Newlook (here), RiverIsland (here).
As well as online stores such as; Asos(here) and Amazon (here)

What do you think of the trend? Will you be wearing and Flash Tattoos this summer?

    W7 In The Buff

    Thursday, May 14, 2015

I have never tried any W7 products before, but when I saw the W7 In The Buff palette and heard all the hype about it being a dupe for the Naked 2 palette (which is always being raved about in the blogging world and never fails to gain a positive review) I just had to give it a go and OH MY GOSH am I impressed!

The packaging of the palette is a metal tin, which looks astatically pleasing to the eye and is fairly sturdy, inside you will find twelve different eye shadows with only two matt shades and the rest are shimmery. The pallet also comes with a little brush and eye shadow pad, which I cannot comment on, as I tend to stick with my Real Techniques make up brushes, the only thing I can say about it is that the packaging is poorly designed where the brush fits as the slot is much wider than the brush (to accommodate the width of the sponge end) if you're not careful when opening the palette your brush will fall straight out!

I cannot comment on its likeness to the naked 2 palette, due to the fact I have never owned it, but thanks to the W7 In The Buff pallet I now no longer feel a need to own it. The colour pay off of the W7 pallet is pretty darn amaze-balls and it has no fall down what so ever compared to other pallets! Also if you prime your eyelids with either eye shadow primer/concealer you will find the eye shadow lasting pretty much all day before it starts creasing but even then the colour doesn't seem to wear off which is perfect for days or nights out when you don't want to carry make up with you! Overall I am extremely pleased with this palette and it's most definitely a favourite of mine!
Going from light to dark the colours in this palette are called; Buff, Camel, Sand, Dust, Chocolate, Topaz, Earth, Storm, Silk, Wave, Thunder and Onyx
    My favourite and most used shades are;
Sand - which is a beautiful light shimmery pink
Dust - a shimmery copper toned shade
Topaz - a neutral shimmery brown
Silk - which is a shimmery champagne colour
Wave - is an in-between colour of Dust and Topaz, it's a shimmery brown shade with slight copper undertones

I tend to wear Sand and Silk together as one look and then as another I do a smokey eye with Dust, Topaz and wave.

Retailing at the price of £9.99, it's a real bargain! I'm a HUGE  fan of this product and will be looking into buying more pallets from this W7 collection! You can purchase the W7 In The Buff palette from the W7 website(here)

    Miracle Hair Treament

    Tuesday, May 12, 2015

I've always had troublesome hair for as long as I can remember. I have naturally curly hair which annoyingly is also naturally very frizzy, dry and brittle. The only way I seem to be able to control my curly, frizzy hair is to straighten it. The only problem with that is, I have to straighten it every day and after years of heat damage my hair is full of split ends and frizzy flyway's that cannot be tamed!

Over the years I have used a wide variety of different hair products to try and help combat the breakage and stop the damage to my hair but none of them seem to make any difference and it was when having this conversation my hair dresser recommended that I try the Unique One - all in one hair treatment. She gave me one of them to look at whilst she was cutting my hair and on the box it claims to do all kinds of things to your hair.

    Here's what the box says;

    1. Repair for dry and damaged hair
    2. Shine and frizz control
    3. Heat protection
    4. Silkiness and smoothness
    5. Hair colour protection /with UVA and UBV filters
    6. Easier brushing and ironing
    7. Incredible detangling
    8. Long lasting hair style
    9. Split end prevention
    10. Adds Body"

My initial reaction was sounds too good to be true, probably claims to do it all but won't make any difference, but my hair dresser told me that she had been using it as her hair had been breaking off from too much heat styling, like mine so I decided to give it a go and purchased a 9ml sample of the product.
    Unique One 9ml and 150ml

OH MY GOSH! it works after using the product a couple of times my hair felt AMAZING! so incredibly soft and silky and it had most definitely helped with the frizz and fly aways and most importantly it has made my hair so much easier to straighten before using this product it would take me perhaps 40 minutes to straighten my hair it now takes me between 5 and 10 minutes, it's seriously amazing! As an added bonus to all the incredible things this product does to your hair it smells sensational! I cannot really find the words to describe how nice it smells but it smells divine! (I only wish my blog had a scratch and sniff so you could all smell it!

The product can be used on either wet or dry hair depending on which method gives you the best results, personally I find putting it on dry hair works best for me.

I apply Unique One by spraying between 4-6 pumps of the product onto the palm of my hand, I then run the product between my hairs and apply it to my hair from the middle to the ends and I then straighten and style my hair.

This is now my holy grail product and I seriously do not know how I coped all the years without this product it really has made such a difference to my hair.

Unique One retails at £13.99 for a 150ml bottle. You can purchase Unique One from Feel Unique (here) and you can read about what the product has to offer on the Unique One website (here) The product comes in two different fragrances the original which is what I use that comes in red and gold packaging and coconut which comes in white and brown packaging

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3

    Thursday, May 07, 2015

I first stumbled upon the Revolution make up brand when looking at make up in Superdrug's and their Iconic 3 palette immediately caught my attention as it looks to be a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

The palette contains twelve colours in total with only three matt colour and the rest are shimmery which are more or less identical colours to the naked 3 eye shadows and at only £4 for the Makeup Revolution pallet it's a real bargain!

For the price of this palette I am pleasantly surprised, all of the colours are well pigmented and look nice on,  although the only downfall is they don't have much staying power, they crease and wear of very quickly so if you're going to chose this as your everyday palette then you really need to invest in a good eye shadow primer to make the product stay put!

You can pick up the Makeup Revolution range at selected Superdrug stores, and on the Superdrug website (here) and on the Makeup Revolution website (here). The entire Makeup Revolution range prices starting from as little as £1 you can imagine the bargains you can pick up!
